Biennial NCYAMA Leadership Forum

National Young Adult Ministry Leadership Forum

Wednesday, December 8-Thursday, Decmber 9, 2010
New Orleans Convention Center - New Orleans, Louisiana

Building Pathways to Ministry & Leadership

This December, come to New Orleans, Louisiana, for the biennial NCYAMA Leadership Forum - and connect with other church leaders working with young adults.

During December, New Orleans will be overrun with the participants of the NCYCMA Forum and the National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry (NCCYM). In addition to stealing away to sample beignets, we'll sample some of the best that Catholic youth and young adult ministry have to offer.

We know that many of those in Young Adult Ministry are wearing at least two official hats - including youth ministry, campus ministry, adult faith formation, vocations, religious education, or evangelization in addition to the work with young adults. So to help facilitate the most effective use of your time and resources, NCYAMA is dovetailing its Leadership Forum on young adult issues with the National Youth Ministers Conference.

From December 8th to 9th,, you are invited to join us for a chance to learn and discuss some of the most pressing issues in the Church today (and into the future).. While at the Forum, we will focus on some of the core issues we face.

  • Connected—One of the greatest challenges of young adults is connection. While they are likely plugged in via cell phones, Facebook, e-mail, and the general internet, they are disconnected from the Church, God, and sacramental community.
  • Called—Young adults will pick up that phone call from a friend at 2:00 am, but will they answer their baptismal call from God? Do they even hear that call? We struggle to empower the young adults in our community to answer their call to leadership among their peers, in the Church, and in their communities.
  • Gifted—Those in the trenches of young adult ministry can quickly list the incredible gifts of those they work with. The trouble often comes with bringing those gifts to the attention of the wider church community. Sometimes it is even facing young adults unaware of all the incredible gifts they have to share with the community.
  • Vocation— When all three issues intersect, we have a situation of vocational confusion. Determining how to bring forth the connected, called, and gifted individual into fuller participation in God's family becomes a crucial, and often overwhelming, task for us.

The 2010 NCYAMA Forum will help church leaders build a bridge for young adults to move into the leadership of the Catholic Church in the 21st century. For that reason alone, it's worth the trip to New Orleans this December!
